With construction beginning in 1942, this stronghold formed a key part of defending St Ouens Bay.

The M19 mortar bunker is connected to the Sechsscharten by means of an imposing underground tunnel.

It is said that during it's time in action a fight between two soldiers broke out on the top landing of the concrete staircase at the end of the tunnel, which resulted in one of the soldiers being killed.

Is it his apparition that is often witnessed by volunteers of the C.I.O.S. when working late at night?

Footsteps are frequently heard along with a woman's voice when there are no women around, could this be the voice of the woman the soldiers were fighting over? or could it be one of the visiting Red Cross nurses?
